A few weeks and the most romantic day of the year will arrive. Yes, Valentine’s Day, the 14th of February, is looked forward to by thousands of couples as an occasion for expressing their love and passion to their beloved.
Apart from lovers, even friends and family members can exchange Valentine presents as a gesture of their love and affection for each other. To make the event more enjoyable and interesting, make some Valentine’s crafts with your children. Not just will that be great fun but also give you the opportunity to spend time with your kids and talk about the important people in their life.
Your kids may be especially attached to their grandparents or a friend at school. Encourage them with ideas for making special gifts or cards for these people, telling them how much they are valued. Here are a few craft ideas for making this Valentine’s Day a fun-filled, special occasion for your kids:
Valentine cards
Think of Valentine’s Day and you instantly think of red roses and hearts. Being the symbols of eternal love and passion, these items can be used as a theme for making beautiful Valentine cards. A heart shaped card isn’t difficult to make either.
Take a construction paper and fold it into half. Draw a heart on it so that one side touches on the folded side. Keeping the folded area intact, cut out the heart and your heart shaped card is ready! Allow you kid to use his imagination for coloring and decorating the card with stickers, glitters and markers. After that, help them write a personal message for the recipient and seal it for being delivered.
Valentine garland
Be creative and make heart garlands. This can be a lot of fun too. Just cut heart shapes out of red construction paper and make holes in each of them. After that, use a ribbon or thread to tie all the pieces together. That’s it!
To personalize your garland, tell your child to write the names of all his/her loved ones in each heart. It can be a really touching and cute gift or if you want to keep it as a memory, used as a decoration.
Valentine collage
Collect different Valentine related pictures from the newspaper, magazines, etc. it could be flowers, hearts, chocolates, teddy bears, candies and so on. Give your kids a large sheet of paper and let their imagination work wonders. This Valentine collage can be gifted to a special friend or another family member to make their Valentine’s Day even more delightful.
If you have any other Valentine’s craft ideas, feel free to use them to have a great time on Valentine’s Day and please your kids too!
